E téren a magyar embert bőséggel kényezteti gazdag hagyománya.

    Hello –

I saw that your name was “Dsupin” and I wanted to write. I am currently looking for anyone who can help me find any Dsupins that might be related to me… It is mainly for fun. I put your text into Google Translate; you are clearly also a writer as well as a musician (I could tell in spite of Google Translate’s strange shifts in meaning). I too am a writer.

A bit of history: My great-great-grandfather was named József Dsupin (born 1859) and came from Gagyapáti to the United States to do work there, and died (around 1907). He is buried somewhere in Pennsylvania.

His son, Mihály Dsupin (born 1891) stayed in the US and had his mother, Anna (Didik) Dsupin come to live here. He had a sister Mária (who also came to the US with her husband, András Galvács), and another sister, Anna (Dsupin) Laczko, who stayed behind.

I am extremely interested in this family history and decided to google “Dsupin” and some towns nearby and I found you! Being that it seems every generation of Dsupins seem to select the same names for their children, I am hoping there is a good chance that somewhere along the line we are distantly related and maybe you can help me.

I speak absolutely no Hungarian, but I do speak French, and Italian… though I am not sure that this is of any use. (There is also Google Translate 🙂

There are also some names in my notes, from letters we have at our house with the family names Budai and another one that begins with K (Kavalacs?).

I am sure that with a town as small as Gagyapáti, you must know some people who might be able to help me… There is another part of my story. I am also looking to see if a certain story my grandfather told me is true. It involves a “French soldier” in Napoleon’s army who falls ill in Hungary and stays there. This is the story I have been told about the beginning of the “Jupin”/ Dsupin family line.

I would be most appreciative if you have a moment to write back and if you or anyone else in your family has any interest in exploring this together!

    Very sincerely,
Jessica Lee (granddaughter of some American Dsupins)
